It took awhile for this “Walking Dead” spinoff to find its bearings, but as the show begins the second half of its second season, it seems to be finding its own pace and rhythm. The main group of human survivors (including Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Ruben Blades and Colman Domingo) have escaped a conflagration and are now split up and headed in different directions. Midseason premiere, 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, on AMC.

Can zombies swim? That was the big question when this “Walking Dead” spinoff began its second season last week as the survivors boarded a yacht to escape the zombie hordes. The answer is not really (but they can kind of float and lurch, but are no match for a boat propeller). The new series is not yet as involving as its predecessor, but the cast is strong — especially Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis and Ruben Blades — and the new locations keep things from becoming stale. 9 p.m. Sunday, April 17, on AMC.

“What was that sound? This highly anticipated companion series to the “The Walking Dead” is set in L.A. just as the outbreak is beginning. Robert Kirkman and Greg Nicotero (who produce the original series) are executive producers here, so you can expect suspense, gore and … zombies. The human cast features Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Nick Clark and Ruben Blades. Series premiere, 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, on AMC.
